A little bit of this and that today.
Harvested juniper berries. Actually, they are not berries, they are "fused cones", since the juniper is a conifer. Anyway, I thought they looked really festive. We collected bittersweet also and made a wreath; I love the contrast between the red and yellow. We have leaves in pressed form and dipped in beeswax, found feathers which begged to be admired in the pretty light this morning, and a junk art windchime. As if the neighbors don't have enough to gawk at in our driveway. But hey, it makes both me and the little babe smile and it got rid of a couple pieces of this and that that were lying around the house. We had another Sunday walk this week. That makes two weeks in a row and I like it.
I'm thankful for great places to hike close to home, time for doing projects with the little babe that encourage her to appreciate nature, time for reading books on the sofa in the middle of the day with my daughter in my lap. Thankful for imaginative play that makes me laugh, moments spent just sitting and running my hands over angora rabbit wool that feels like a cloud, greeting chickens who aren't laying any eggs right now but who make me smile just the same, a safe yard for the little babe to play. Thankful for family that isn't technically family, but in the heart it is all the same. Thankful that I was able to heal the deep gash in my hand with homemade salve - dang, life is hard without a thumb! Definitely thankful that I have two. I grumble about the yowling cats, messy dogs, junk yard driveway, mice in my walls, clogged drains, a complaining child, living in the crowded burbs, but I know that really my life is damn good and I am thankful for it.
What are you thankful for today?
