Today I am thankful for...
-signs of Spring.
-my crazy fur filled life. On Sunday night, I stepped out of the shower and saw 4 cats, 1 rabbit, and a little babe all hanging around the heater in the bathroom. I'm thinking that Maizie (our only intact pet) somehow knows it is the Spring season of love. He has been very active lately, both during the day and at night.
-early morning light. I am loving the way the sun's rays shine across our yard, making even the Fort Knox fencing of our garden appear beautiful.
-a Sunday morning outing to the nature center that was full of great nature finds. The first picture is a Honey Locust tree. I discovered that Honey Locusts tolerate juglone, which is a natural growth inhibitor produced by Black Walnut trees. We happened to be walking on the Black Walnut Trail when I took this picture, so that helped me identify the tree! I don't know what the orange mushrooms are in the second picture - they looked like little orange balloons growing right out of the bark. The third picture is of a tree with awesome burls.
-a husband who loves me enough to follow me on my eco-friendly, money saving, baking soda beauty routine. We have started brushing our teeth with baking soda and rinsing with a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water solution. I have also been going "no 'poo" for about two weeks now. (That just means not washing my hair with shampoo - I wish it meant I didn't have to clean up rabbit poop in the house.) My hair was looking halfway decent until I slathered it in coconut oil in an attempt to moisturize it (following advice I found on-line). Now two days later, I am still a greaseball. At least I don't have to go anywhere and when I do I can wear a bandanna. (I don't think you need to see any pictures of my sweet smelling, but very shiny hair.)
What are you thankful for today?
