In a big pile of wood was one little bug.
Next to the bug was one little babe.
"What a big finger!" thought the one little bug.
"What big eyes!" thought the one little babe.
"Is she going to smash me?" thought the one little bug.
"Is he going to bite me?" thought the one little babe.
"I'll give her a chance." thought the one little bug.
"I'll give him a chance." thought the one little babe.
What lessons can we learn from a bug and a babe? Give someone a chance, play nice, and be brave.
This is an Eastern-Eyed Click Beetle. In order to right themselves when they are turned upside down, they can snap a 'spine' under their thorax that helps to propel them into the air. This snap produces a "click" sound.
