I am joining Chrisy at Living A Good North Coast Life for her "Reconnecting With Nature" series. As we bloggers sit around connected to our computers, it is a great way to force us to step outside and maybe notice something new in the natural world or just appreciate something that we see every day. Last weekend we took a trip to Portland, Maine, which is on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Maine is not known for its sandy beaches and seashell collecting. It has a very rocky coastline.
I enjoyed walking on the rocks and seeing the creatures that were in the tidal pools. Snails, barnacles, lots of seawood, a couple of mussel shells.
When we were standing in this quiet estuary, we could actually hear the barnacles that were attached to the rocks opening and closing. It was pretty cool!
I'm glad we had the opportunity to show the little babe these natural environments that are so different from where we live. She might not have grasped what a barnacle is, but she did enjoy seeing the seagulls.
