Today I am thankful for...
A beautiful winter day. Yes, it was bitter cold, but the sun was shining and so I decided to take my little babe to the arboretum so we could get some Winter photographs. Needless to say, since it was less than 10 F outside, we had the place to ourselves!
Loving this color combination! Mother Nature just does it right!
Can you see the little bird's nest?
I just loved how sharp and crisp everything looked in the frigid cold.
The shadows were amazing and my photographs do not do them justice.
I loved the texture and color of this bark. I think it is a paper birch, but I didn't take the time to find out. We were closing in on 20 minutes and my fingers really hurt from the cold!
This huge tree is at the back of the arboretum, with a view of the mountains. The branch structure is amazing.
The blue sky was so vivid and the hydrangeas are beautiful even when they are brown and dried.
This post is doing double duty. Along with being my Thankful Tuesday post, I will also be sharing this with Chrisy at Living A Good North Coast Life for her "Reconnecting With Nature" series. As we bloggers sit around connected to our computers, it is a great way to force us to step outside and maybe notice something new in the natural world or just appreciate something that we see every day. Read more about the Reconnect with Nature - one photograph at a time idea here.
I will be posting several of these photographs in my Society6 shop, so if any of them strike your fancy and you need a winter pick-me-up, stop on by!
