This week people around the world will celebrate the birth of a child long ago.  What better way to celebrate that birth in the true spirit of the season, than to save the life of a mother?  Each day, 800 mothers will die during childbirth.  The organization Maternity Worldwide works to prevent these unnecessary deaths through maternal health education, safe birth training, and providing medical equipment to hospitals and health centres.  Instead of shopping the after holiday sales and spending money on something that you probably don't really need, consider sponsoring a safe birth.
