Creek playing, tons of cherry tomatoes, garden surprises (Butterfly bush - don't know where it came from!), rambling nasturtiums, digging potatoes*, trailing morning glories - all good things. We didn't really have much Summer weather this year, just too much rain for weeks, but the seasons are shifting and things are changing. The other night I felt like a witch - when I went out to put the birds to bed, I ducked under a big spiderweb, spotted a bat swooping low, and almost stepped on several toads! We've since been doing nightly toad hunts with the flashlight and haven't been disappointed. Autumn is coming and I am glad. Let the lovely season begin.
*We bought our seed potatoes from Wood Prairie Family Farm located way up in northern Maine. We love the purple potatoes and this year we managed to grow some pretty big baking potatoes.
