Lou and Lily, are you in there?
Lil, Lou, look at my new sweater.
It has two purple buttons, one blue button, a red, and black. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
It is another Olearia cardigan that Momma made. She loved the gathered pattern on the purple one so much, that she decided to make another cardigan in a heavier wool and in a bigger size so it will fit next Fall and hopefully through the Winter too.
How about you ladies, do you want to see it too?
I don't really like using plastic buttons, but these are vintage 1960's from my aunt's sewing kit, who died before I was born. The sewing kit had been at my grandma's house and I remember looking at the collection of buttons when I was a child. On a recent trip home, I brought back the kit, which along with a ton of buttons, also had some thread on wooden bobbins, an old dress pattern, and hook and eye fasteners. I like being able to put the buttons to good use, thinking of her hands sorting them and saving them from other clothing.
